Blame

By Paul Howard - Posted on 22 March 2008

“Remember that time you got me into trouble with that friend of your sisters?”

“Yeah. Seventeen stone Sandy. That was funny!”

“Fuck was it!”

“Well you was pissed”

“AND whose fault was that? Yours with “lets get a crate of 24 cans” suggestion”

“Was your money!”

“WHICH you borrowed!”

“Hey, how about that time you got your head stuck in the railings at St Michaels?”

“Still got the goddamn marks behind me ears”

“Lets have a look”

“Fuck off! - Jesus whats this...”

“Your dick?”

“Chewing gum! Shit! My new jeans! Bastards!

“Public bench...I can put it where I want...”

Blame started as an image of two faceless, sexless people sitting on a bench in a empty background.

I wanted to write a short piece of flash fiction but didn't know where to go with it. It was suggested by a friend that the two people should be arguing, so I decided to run with it.

Flash is aways a good exercise to get the creative juices flowing and I think it has broken the break I had fallen into.
