Family Barbecue
My sister read the recent entries of writing on five words given to me by various folks as an exercise and decided to give me five words.
She gave me "roses, devastating, fingerprint, snow, quicken".
Fingerprint, snow and roses stuck out so I started there.
Winter Fire
Snow powders the roses
defies the seasons with its thick marshmallow fingerprint.
They quicken the fire with dead legs of trees
Turn their backs
on the devastating icy wind.
The other work based on five words can be found by following the below links.

Fired up
I like it. The first line is very feminine (like powder their noses)and I like the defiance.
My version:
The Attendants
Butterflies quicken
as the fingerprint unspools.
Here, now is a snowbank.
The devastating roses
nod muskily and attend.
Fine Wine
A good example of your talent sis. :)
