Grandma was always full of sayings and if you didn’t heed the subtle advice, a smack around the back of the head was the order of the day.

Charlie groaned inwardly.

Maybe if Hitler had Grandma Rubbins for his granny, things would have turned out differently. Maybe not peaceful but still.

“Chop chop!”

“Okay Grandma!”, said Charlie trying not to show any irritation. How Grandad put up with her was beyond Charlie although her plum jam was to die for.

“Now don’t fall off the ladder!”
