Pain
Pain was now paying me a visit. My hands were sore, I had forgot to buy cycling gloves and now my palms were stinging and blisters were a distinct possibility.
My legs were full of acid but my concern was for my right leg, it felt like my knee was going to explode on every turn of the pedal. I tried to offset it by pushing down harder with my left leg and less with my right. It helped a little but not a great deal.
I decided to stop for a bit and almost immediately regretted it as my legs flared with pain.
Despite my discomfort I was able to appreciate the landscape.
It was when I came across some ducks splashing water on themselves and ducking under the water while quacking their pleasure or maybe discussing the state of the economy that I realized how quiet it was. No traffic. No planes. Just water and ducks.
I could feel my legs starting to seize so I mounted the bike and pushed hard through the pain knowing eventually it would lessen if I kept moving long enough.
