Reg At Sea

I received a text yesterday about the father of a family friend. Initially it looked like he had suffered a stroke but he has now being diagnosed with a brain and chest tumour. The brain tumour takes him off to other realities and confuses the current one before returning him to hospital. He does not know why he is there at the moment although his family do. The prognosis is not good.

This is a short expression on a conversation I had this afternoon.

The Confused Man

He looks back, knows his name,
the pillow and the bed
until Kansas slides like an advert board
over white surgical walls
where geese roam free in the hollow corridors
let loose by a parasite who marks the days
inflating like gluttonies belly
eating a husband and father
who is yet to know his fate.
